Veneers, facade and porcelain crowns
Porcelain veneers and porcelain crowns are both esthetic dental restorations that use porcelain as a material. Porcelain is a highly aesthetic and durable material that resembles the color, look and feel of natural tooth enamel.
If you have severely discolored teeth that do not respond to teeth whitening, a porcelain veneer or porcelain crown can be an excellent option to get the natural white smile you desire. Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are placed on the front of the teeth to even out the appearance of the teeth and correct any malformations or jaggies. Porcelain crowns are fully encased in porcelain and cover the entire tooth, giving it extra strength and protection.
Both porcelain facades and crowns are aesthetically pleasing, however, porcelain crowns are the strongest restoration and are often more suitable for teeth that are very damaged or should load with large forces. In contrast, porcelain veneers are more suitable for minor damage or aesthetic problems.
A thin shell of porcelain is used to replace the surface layer of your own teeth. The veneers are produced by a dental technician and attached to the front of the teeth and make them look smoother. The veneer can also correct a jagged or misshapen tooth.
