Microneedling Stockholm – Medical Treatment with Exceed™

At Gloss & Floss, we provide medical microneedling with Exceed™, an automated medical microneedling system with documented indications for facial wrinkles and reduction of facial acne scars.

The treatment creates controlled microscopic channels in the skin using sterile needles. This activates the skin’s natural wound-healing response and new collagen formation. Needle depth and treatment settings are adapted to the treatment area, skin response and individual goals.

Quick answer

Medical microneedling uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. Exceed™ is FDA-cleared in the United States for the treatment of facial wrinkles and for improving the appearance of facial acne scars. Results develop gradually, and the treatment plan is determined individually.

What is medical microneedling?

Medical microneedling uses very fine needles to create multiple controlled punctures in the superficial and deeper layers of the skin. These micro-channels activate the body’s natural wound-healing response and stimulate new collagen formation.

Unlike energy-based procedures, Exceed uses mechanical microneedling without radiofrequency or laser energy.

Controlled needle depth

Needle depth and device settings can be adapted according to the treatment area, tissue response and treatment goal.

Collagen response

Controlled micro-injuries trigger a repair process that supports new collagen formation.

Individual treatment

Depth, intensity and the number of treatments are planned according to your skin and treatment objective.

Gradual improvement

Skin remodelling takes time, which means results generally develop progressively rather than immediately.

Exceed™ – documented medical microneedling technology

Gloss & Floss uses the Exceed™ medical microneedling system. Exceed is an automated powered microneedling device with two separate FDA 510(k) clearances in the United States.

The system is FDA-cleared for the treatment of facial wrinkles and for improving the appearance of facial acne scars. Candela describes Exceed as the first dual-indicated FDA-cleared medical microneedling system for these indications.

Exceed is also CE-registered in Europe. The system uses sterile single-use needle cartridges, and treatment depth can be adjusted according to the treatment area and tissue response.

What can medical microneedling treat?

For a clear and responsible explanation, we distinguish between Exceed’s documented regulatory indications and broader cosmetic skin goals that need individual assessment.

Strongest documented Exceed indications

  • facial wrinkles and fine lines
  • the appearance of facial acne scars

These are the areas for which Exceed has FDA clearance and published clinical documentation.

Other skin goals are assessed individually

Patients also ask about microneedling for skin texture, visible pores, radiance or uneven tone. If this is your main concern, we first assess whether microneedling is a reasonable option or whether another skin treatment may be more appropriate.

Active acne, significant pigmentation concerns or other skin changes may require a different first step.

What does the published Exceed evidence show?

In a published clinical study, 48 subjects with signs of facial skin ageing received four Exceed microneedling sessions approximately 30 days apart. The study reported a statistically significant improvement in the overall facial wrinkle score.

The same study reported mild to moderate temporary redness after treatment and no serious adverse events. This is one documented study protocol – it does not mean every patient requires four treatments or will achieve the same result.

When will I see microneedling results?

Microneedling relies on the skin’s own repair and collagen-remodelling response. It is therefore more realistic to think in terms of weeks and months rather than expecting the final result immediately after treatment.

Improvement develops gradually

During the first days, the visible response is mainly related to recovery. Tissue remodelling then continues progressively after the treatment.

The degree of improvement varies according to the concern being treated and individual skin response.

How many treatments are needed?

There is no fixed number that suits everyone. The treatment plan depends on your concern, skin condition, treatment depth and response.

Published Exceed studies have used protocols including four sessions approximately one month apart, but your own plan is determined individually.

Safety, hygiene and patient selection

Medical microneedling intentionally creates small punctures in the skin. Appropriate hygiene, patient selection and treatment technique are therefore central parts of the procedure.

Exceed uses sterile single-use needle cartridges. Treatment settings are adapted according to skin response and the device manufacturer’s instructions.

Treatment may need to be postponed or avoided in certain situations, including active skin infection or open wounds, pregnancy or breastfeeding, some coagulation disorders, uncontrolled diabetes or medication that may significantly affect bleeding or healing.

Suitability is always assessed individually before treatment.

After microneedling – recovery and aftercare

Immediately after treatment, the skin may appear red and feel warm, tender or mildly swollen. More intensive treatment can produce pinpoint bleeding during the procedure.

After treatment, it is important to

  • follow the individual hygiene and skin-care instructions provided by your practitioner
  • avoid unnecessary rubbing, picking or irritation of the treated area
  • protect the skin carefully from UV exposure and strong sun
  • delay strong or irritating active skin-care products until the skin has recovered according to your aftercare plan
  • contact the clinic if you experience an unusual or concerning reaction

If you have a history of recurrent cold sores or herpes simplex around the mouth, tell your practitioner before treatment.

Frequently asked questions about microneedling in Stockholm

What is medical microneedling?

Medical microneedling uses very fine sterile needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. This activates the skin’s natural repair response and new collagen formation.

Which microneedling device does Gloss & Floss use?

We use the Exceed™ medical microneedling system, an automated medical microneedling device with documented indications for facial wrinkles and facial acne scars.

Is Exceed FDA-approved?

The correct term is FDA-cleared. Exceed has FDA 510(k) clearance in the United States for the treatment of facial wrinkles and for improving the appearance of facial acne scars.

Can microneedling help acne scars?

Yes. Improvement in the appearance of facial acne scars is one of Exceed’s FDA-cleared indications. The degree of improvement depends on scar type, depth, skin characteristics and treatment plan.

Can microneedling help fine lines and wrinkles?

Yes. Treatment of facial wrinkles is a documented Exceed indication. Results develop gradually through the skin’s repair and collagen-remodelling process.

Can microneedling reduce enlarged pores?

Improved skin texture may make pores appear less noticeable for some people, but pore size is not the same as Exceed’s FDA-cleared indications. A skin assessment is therefore recommended first.

Is microneedling suitable for pigmentation?

Pigmentation has many possible causes and should be assessed before treatment. Microneedling is not automatically the right option for every pigmentation concern, and another skin treatment may sometimes be more appropriate.

Does microneedling hurt?

Sensation varies according to treatment area and needle depth. Patients may feel stinging, vibration or temporary discomfort. Treatment intensity and comfort measures are adapted individually.

What does the skin look like after microneedling?

Redness, warmth, tenderness and mild swelling can occur after treatment. The duration depends on treatment depth and individual skin response.

How many microneedling sessions will I need?

The number of treatments is determined individually. Published Exceed studies have used protocols including four sessions approximately 30 days apart, but the same schedule is not appropriate for every patient.

When will I see results?

Results develop gradually because collagen formation and tissue remodelling continue after treatment. The timeline varies according to treatment goal and individual skin response.

Can microneedling be performed on active acne?

Active inflammation or skin infection may mean treatment should be postponed. The skin is therefore assessed before microneedling is carried out.

What aftercare is needed?

Treat the skin gently after microneedling, follow the clinic’s advice on cleansing and skin-care products, protect the area from UV exposure and avoid unnecessary irritation while the skin is recovering.

How much does medical microneedling cost at Gloss & Floss?

Our current price list shows Medical Microneedling Basic, 45 minutes, at 2,895 SEK and Golden, 90 minutes, at 3,895 SEK.

Can microneedling be combined with other treatments?

Other skin or aesthetic treatments can form part of a broader treatment plan, but they should not automatically be performed at the same time. Method, sequence and appropriate interval are planned individually.

Would you like to know whether microneedling is right for your skin?

Start with a professional assessment. We review what you would like to improve, your skin condition and whether Exceed medical microneedling is a relevant option.
