English-speaking patients, personnummer and dental costs in Sweden

If you are new in Sweden, visiting Stockholm, or are not yet familiar with Swedish dental care, the cost structure can feel difficult to understand. At Gloss & Floss, we help English-speaking patients understand the practical steps before treatment starts.

Useful to know before your visit

  • If you have a Swedish personal identity number, bring it or enter it when booking.
  • If you do not have a personnummer, contact us so we can explain booking and payment options.
  • If Swedish dental support applies in your case, we explain how it may affect your final cost.
  • For larger treatments, you receive a written cost estimate before deciding.
  • For urgent pain or swelling, start with emergency dental care.

Treatments that require an individual cost estimate

Some treatments always need to be assessed individually before a fair and accurate fee can be given. This applies, for example, when several procedures need to be combined, when laboratory costs vary, or when the full scope can only be determined after examination and X-rays.

For the following treatments, we therefore provide a clear written cost estimate after assessment:

For implant-related or surgical treatment, you may also need assessment through our oral surgery and dental operations pathway.

What affects the cost of dental care?

The cost of dental care may be influenced by several factors, including:

  • which treatment is needed
  • how extensive the treatment is
  • whether X-rays or other diagnostics are required
  • which materials are used
  • whether treatment requires one or several visits
  • which dental care subsidy may apply in your case

That is why we always aim to give you as clear and realistic a cost overview as possible before further treatment is planned.

Written cost estimate before further treatment

If you need further treatment, you will receive a clear written cost estimate. We go through the recommended procedures, how treatment can be planned, and what the costs look like before you make any decision.

Our goal is for you to be able to make decisions calmly, with a full understanding of both the clinical and financial plan.

Need a price estimate for a larger treatment?

Book a consultation first. After examination and necessary diagnostics, we can explain the treatment options and provide a written cost estimate before you decide.

Sweden’s dental support and how it may affect your cost

For many patients, Sweden’s dental support can reduce the final out-of-pocket cost. When relevant, we explain how different forms of support may apply to your treatment plan, such as the General Dental Subsidy, Special Dental Subsidy, and Sweden’s high-cost protection.

The dental care subsidy system is administered by the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, and the annual reference prices are set by TLV.

If you are unsure whether support applies to your treatment, we can explain what information is available in your situation and how this may affect the final cost estimate.

Payment options at Gloss & Floss

We offer several payment options to make things easier for you as a patient.

You can pay by:

  • Swish
  • payment card
  • invoice solution via Rivr

If you would like to divide the payment, instalment options may be available through the payment service, subject to the usual credit assessment. We will gladly explain how this works before or during your visit.

Guarantee and long-term peace of mind

At Gloss & Floss, quality and durability are central to our approach to care.

We offer:

  • a 3-year guarantee on fixed prosthetics and implant treatments
  • a 1-year guarantee on removable prosthetics

This is an important part of our commitment to providing safe, serious, and long-lasting dental care.

Our view on price and quality

We believe in dental care where quality, clarity, and patient safety come first. For us, affordable dental care does not mean cutting corners on materials, time, or precision. It means giving you the right treatment from the start and creating the best possible conditions for durable long-term results.

It also means that you, as a patient, should understand what you are paying for and feel well looked after throughout the entire process.

Rescheduling and cancellation

We understand that plans can sometimes change. At the same time, each appointment is reserved exclusively for you and is often difficult to offer to another patient at short notice.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask you to do so no later than 24 hours before the booked treatment time. Later cancellations or rescheduling are charged at 1,000 SEK per booked hour.

This policy also applies to appointments booked under offers or campaign prices, since the clinical time has already been reserved for your care.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us plan treatment as smoothly as possible for all patients.

FAQ – Affordable Dental Care Prices at Gloss & Floss in Stockholm

Why are some fees listed as “from”?

Because the final fee depends on diagnosis, treatment complexity, materials, and the exact scope required. Once we have examined the situation, we provide a clear written cost estimate before further treatment begins.

What is included in the new patient examination?

The new patient examination includes a professional clinical assessment and helps us identify any treatment needs. If further treatment is needed, we explain the findings and discuss the next step together with a clear cost overview.

What should I book if I have toothache or swelling?

If you have toothache, swelling, trauma, a broken tooth or sudden dental pain, you should start with an emergency dental examination. The goal is to assess the problem quickly and explain the next step.

Will I receive a written cost estimate before larger treatment starts?

Yes. If your treatment requires more than the initial visit, we provide a written cost estimate so that you can review the plan and understand the expected cost before proceeding.

Can Sweden’s dental support reduce my cost?

In many cases, yes. Depending on your situation and treatment type, support such as the General Dental Subsidy, Special Dental Subsidy, or high-cost protection may affect your final cost. We explain this when relevant.

Can I visit Gloss & Floss without a Swedish personnummer?

Yes, in many situations we can still help you. If you do not have a Swedish personal identity number, contact us before or when booking so we can explain the practical steps, payment options and what information we need.

Do you offer payment by invoice or instalments?

Yes. In addition to Swish and payment cards, we offer invoice payment via Rivr. Instalment options may also be available after a standard credit assessment.

Do you explain prices in English?

Yes. We regularly help English-speaking patients understand treatment options, costs, dental support, payment alternatives and written cost estimates.

Why can larger treatment not always be priced before examination?

Larger treatments such as implants, bridges, crowns, dentures and oral surgery depend on diagnosis, X-rays, materials, treatment sequence and clinical complexity. A fair cost estimate requires an individual assessment first.

What happens if I need to reschedule?

You are welcome to reschedule or cancel your visit up to 24 hours before the booked appointment. Later cancellations or rescheduling are charged at 1,000 SEK per booked hour, including appointments booked under offers or campaign prices.

Cancellation and Rescheduling

Your appointment can be cancelled via email or phone. For cancellation and rescheduling, notice must be given 24 hours before your scheduled treatment; otherwise, a fee of 1000 SEK per hour booked will be charged. Any offers are subject to the same booking conditions. Please note that the cancellation rule applies regardless of the reason. An appointment that is not properly cancelled will automatically be charged.

The above rules exist, among other reasons, so that we can offer another patient emergency care instead of having to decline due to full capacity, and we assume that this is understood.

Please note that the SMS reminder is an additional service. Occasionally, an operator may experience system errors, which means the SMS may not be delivered. Therefore, you must keep track of your appointment yourself!
