Muscle-Relaxing Treatments in Stockholm

Consultation-led muscle-relaxing treatments in Stockholm for people who want to discuss expression lines or selected muscle-related concerns with a qualified clinician. At Gloss & Floss on Södermalm, every treatment plan begins with an individual assessment rather than a standardised injection package.

Muscle-relaxing aesthetic injections involve prescription-only medicine. Suitability, treatment area, dose, alternatives, risks and expected outcome can therefore only be determined after an individual clinical assessment. This page provides general service information and does not promote a specific prescription medicine.

Swedish rules and prescription-medicine advertising

This page describes the treatment process, consultation and safety in general terms and does not advertise a named prescription-only medicine. The Swedish Medical Products Agency states that advertising prescription medicines to the general public is prohibited, including indirect wording when a specific prescription medicine is nevertheless identifiable.

What are muscle-relaxing aesthetic treatments?

Muscle-relaxing aesthetic treatment is an injection-based treatment in which prescription-only medicine is used after clinical assessment to temporarily influence selected muscle activity. In aesthetic care, patients commonly seek advice because certain facial lines become more noticeable during frowning, smiling or raising the eyebrows.

The consultation is more important than choosing a predetermined number of “areas”. Facial muscles work together, and the same treatment plan is not appropriate for every person. We therefore assess facial movement, symmetry, anatomy, previous treatments, medical history and your own priorities before discussing whether treatment is suitable.

What concerns can be discussed at consultation?

Expression lines in the upper face

Patients often ask about lines that become visible with facial movement, including horizontal forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows and lines around the outer eye area. During the consultation we assess how these areas move together before discussing whether an aesthetic injection treatment is appropriate.

The objective of the consultation is not to remove every facial movement. It is to establish whether a measured treatment plan can address your concern while respecting your natural facial expression and proportions.

Jaw tension, clenching and tooth grinding

Jaw-muscle tension, tooth grinding and clenching are not simply cosmetic concerns. Symptoms may be related to the chewing muscles, teeth, bite, jaw joints, sleep, stress or several factors together. For that reason, patients with functional jaw symptoms may need a dental assessment before any injection-based option is considered.

Aesthetic concern or functional jaw problem?

These are different clinical pathways. If your main complaint is jaw pain, headaches, chewing discomfort, tooth wear or grinding, we first need to understand the cause. An injection treatment should not replace an appropriate dental or medical diagnosis.

Excessive sweating

Persistent excessive sweating, also called hyperhidrosis, can have several causes. If sweating is your main concern, the first step is to understand the location, severity, duration, previous treatment and whether there may be an underlying medical reason.

Injection treatment is one possible option in selected cases, but it is not automatically the first or most appropriate treatment. Your clinician will advise whether assessment at Gloss & Floss is suitable or whether another healthcare pathway would be more appropriate.

Is muscle-relaxing treatment suitable for you?

Suitability depends on much more than age or the presence of a facial line. Your clinician considers your goals, anatomy, facial movement, medical history, medicines, previous injection treatments and potential risk factors.

Please tell us about all prescription and non-prescription medicines, supplements, allergies, medical conditions, previous aesthetic treatments and any unexpected reaction you have experienced after a previous procedure.

Treatment may need to be postponed, modified or avoided when relevant, for example in connection with:

  • pregnancy or breastfeeding;
  • infection, inflammation or damaged skin in the planned area;
  • certain neuromuscular disorders;
  • medicines or medical conditions that affect suitability;
  • a previous adverse or unexpected reaction;
  • planned medical or dental procedures that may affect timing; or
  • expectations that cannot realistically be met by the proposed treatment.

The final decision is made after clinical assessment and review of the relevant current product information. If treatment is not appropriate, we explain why and discuss suitable alternatives where possible.

Your treatment journey

  1. 1. Consultation and health review We discuss what concerns you, what you would like to understand, your previous treatments, relevant medical history, medicines and other factors that can influence suitability.
  2. 2. Facial or functional assessment The clinician evaluates the relevant anatomy and movement. If your concern relates to jaw pain, clenching or tooth grinding, a dental assessment may be a more appropriate starting point.
  3. 3. Recommendation and alternatives If treatment is considered appropriate, you receive information about the proposed approach, realistic expectations, alternatives, risks, aftercare and cost.
  4. 4. Information and statutory reflection Where the Swedish rules for aesthetic injection treatment apply, the required information and reflection period are completed before consent and treatment.
  5. 5. Treatment The relevant area is assessed again on the treatment day. The procedure is performed according to the individual treatment plan after consent has been documented.
  6. 6. Aftercare and follow-up You receive individual aftercare advice and information about whom to contact if you have a concern. Follow-up is planned when clinically appropriate.

What should you expect after treatment?

A muscle-relaxing injection treatment does not produce its final effect immediately. Changes develop progressively after treatment, and the timing and degree of response vary between individuals, treatment areas and treatment plans.

The effect is temporary. Muscle activity gradually returns over time, which is why future treatment—if wanted and clinically appropriate—is considered separately rather than assumed in advance.

A measured approach is important. More treatment does not necessarily mean a better result, and the most appropriate plan depends on your anatomy, muscle activity, previous response and preferences.

Side effects, risks and aftercare

Every injection treatment has potential side effects and complications. The risks relevant to your proposed treatment are discussed during consultation before you decide whether to proceed.

Temporary local reactions can include redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising around an injection site. Other effects depend on the area treated, individual anatomy and the medicine used and are therefore reviewed specifically with you before treatment.

Follow the written aftercare instructions provided by your clinician. Do not rely on generic social-media advice, as recommendations may differ according to the treatment area and your individual clinical situation.

When should you seek help?

Contact Gloss & Floss if you develop an unexpected symptom, significant concern or worsening reaction after treatment. Seek urgent medical care for difficulty breathing or swallowing, a rapidly developing severe reaction, marked general weakness or another acute medical emergency.

Why choose Gloss & Floss in Stockholm?

  • Consultation before treatment: we start with assessment rather than a predetermined injection package.
  • Regulated clinical setting: treatment is provided within the Swedish patient-safety framework.
  • Individual planning: anatomy, movement, health, treatment history and your goals are considered together.
  • Dental and facial perspective: jaw function, bite, teeth and oral health can be assessed when functional symptoms are part of the concern.

  • Continuity: documentation and follow-up allow future decisions to be based on your previous response rather than starting from zero each time.
  • Central Stockholm location: our clinic is located on Ölandsgatan in Södermalm, close to Skanstull.

Muscle activity is only one aspect of facial appearance and skin quality. Depending on your goals, another treatment—or no treatment at all—may be more appropriate. These pages explain other options available at Gloss & Floss.

Frequently asked questions about muscle-relaxing treatments

These answers provide general guidance. Your own treatment plan, suitability and medical advice are determined during consultation.

What is a muscle-relaxing aesthetic treatment?

It is an injection-based aesthetic treatment involving prescription-only medicine. The treatment is individually planned after assessment of your facial anatomy, muscle movement, health and goals. The exact medicine, treatment area and dose are clinical decisions made after consultation.

Which facial areas can be discussed at consultation?

Common consultation concerns include dynamic lines in the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the outer eye area. Suitability is not determined by the name of an area alone: your clinician assesses how the surrounding muscles move together before making a recommendation.

Can I have treatment at my first consultation?

For a first aesthetic injection treatment of a particular type, Swedish rules require a reflection period of at least two days after the required information has been provided. Consent is given only after that reflection period has passed. Different rules can apply to repeat treatment of the same type within six months.

Do I need a two-day reflection period before every repeat treatment?

Not necessarily. Under the Swedish regulation, a new statutory reflection period is not required for a repeat aesthetic injection treatment of the same type performed within six months of the previous treatment, beyond the first treatment. Suitability is still reviewed before each treatment.

Which prescription medicine is used?

The choice of prescription-only medicine, approved indication and dose is product-specific and follows an individual prescriber assessment. We do not advertise a named prescription medicine on this public service page. If treatment is considered suitable, you receive the relevant product-specific information before consent.

How long does a muscle-relaxing treatment last?

The effect is temporary. Duration varies according to the treatment area, muscle activity, individual response, treatment history and clinical plan. Your clinician can give you a more relevant expectation after assessment rather than promising an exact number of months.

When will I notice a change after treatment?

The treatment does not reach its final effect immediately. Changes develop progressively after the procedure, and timing varies between individuals and treatment areas. Your clinician will explain when follow-up is meaningful for your particular treatment.

Will a muscle-relaxing treatment make my face look frozen?

Removing all facial movement is not our treatment objective. Planning is based on your natural facial movement, anatomy and preferences. The degree of change that is realistic and appropriate is discussed with you before treatment.

Does muscle-relaxing treatment hurt?

Injection treatment involves brief needle contact, so some discomfort can occur. Sensitivity differs between people and between treatment areas. Any relevant comfort measures can be discussed during your consultation.

Is there downtime after a muscle-relaxing treatment?

Many patients can continue ordinary non-strenuous activities after an uncomplicated treatment, but individual advice takes priority. You receive aftercare instructions based on your treatment area and clinical circumstances.

What side effects can occur?

Temporary local effects such as redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising can occur. Other risks depend on the medicine and area treated. Relevant common and important risks are reviewed with you before consent, together with instructions on what to do if you develop an unexpected symptom.

Can muscle-relaxing treatment help with jaw clenching or teeth grinding?

Injection treatment may be considered in selected clinical situations, but jaw clenching and bruxism have several possible causes. A dental and jaw assessment may therefore be needed first. Depending on the findings, monitoring, behavioural measures, a bite splint or another treatment pathway may be more appropriate.

Can injection treatment be used for excessive sweating?

Injection treatment is one of several clinical options that may be considered for selected types of excessive sweating. Because sweating can also have an underlying medical cause, the location, severity, history and previous treatments should be assessed first.

Can I have treatment while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Pregnancy or breastfeeding is an important part of the medical assessment and aesthetic injection treatment will generally be postponed when appropriate according to current clinical and product-specific guidance. Tell your clinician if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning pregnancy.

What is the difference between muscle-relaxing treatment and dermal filler?

They are different treatment categories. Muscle-relaxing treatment concerns selected muscle activity, whereas dermal fillers are medical devices used for different structural or volume-related indications. The right option depends on what is causing the concern, which is why assessment comes before treatment selection.

How much do muscle-relaxing treatments cost in Stockholm?

Cost depends on the clinical assessment and proposed treatment plan. Current price information is available on our medical aesthetics price page . You receive information about the applicable cost before treatment.
