Skin Booster Stockholm – Hydration & Skin Quality with ProDefine Retouch
Skin booster treatment is designed for patients who primarily want to improve hydration, radiance, skin quality and the appearance of fine superficial lines – rather than create obvious facial volume or change facial contours.
At Gloss & Floss in Södermalm, we use ProDefine Retouch from AQ Skin Solutions. Every treatment is planned individually after consultation, assessment of treatment suitability and discussion of your goals.
Quick answer
Skin booster treatment uses small injections of a hyaluronic-acid-based product with the aim of improving hydration and skin quality. It is not intended as traditional facial volumisation. Results vary between individuals and are temporary, so treatment suitability and expectations are assessed before a plan is agreed.
What is a skin booster?
A skin booster is an injectable treatment in which hyaluronic acid is used primarily to support skin quality rather than facial volume or contour. It may be relevant when the skin feels dry, dull or less resilient and the treatment goal is improved hydration and a fresher skin appearance.
Hydration
Hyaluronic acid binds water and is used to support the skin’s hydration.
Skin quality
The treatment goal is smoother, better-hydrated skin rather than significant volume change.
Radiance
Better-hydrated skin may appear fresher and more luminous.
Fine lines
ProDefine Retouch is also intended to reduce the visible appearance of fine lines.
Skin booster – focus on skin quality
- hydration
- radiance
- skin softness and quality
- fine superficial lines
- natural-looking improvement without deliberate contour change
Volumising filler – a different treatment goal
Traditional dermal fillers are primarily used to create or restore volume, shape contours or address specific structural areas.
Skin boosters and volumising fillers may both use hyaluronic acid, but their treatment objectives are different and they should not be regarded as the same procedure.

Gloss & Floss uses ProDefine Retouch, a hyaluronic-acid-based skin booster from AQ Skin Solutions. The product uses the company’s Soft C-Link technology and minimally cross-linked hyaluronic acid.
The manufacturer describes ProDefine Retouch as a skin booster developed for intense hydration, improved skin firmness and a reduction in the visible appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The treatment concept also includes a dedicated pre-treatment mask and a defined injection protocol. Your individual treatment is nevertheless determined by clinical assessment, treatment goals and the product’s current instructions for use.

How skin booster treatment works at Gloss & Floss
Because skin booster is an aesthetic injection treatment, the process begins with consultation and assessment – not immediately with injections.
Consultation
We review your goals, relevant medical history, previous treatments and whether skin booster is a suitable option.
Information & reflection
Before a first aesthetic injection treatment, Swedish requirements regarding information, consent and at least two days’ reflection time are followed.
Preparation
The area is prepared and the product, injection points and technique are planned according to your individual situation.
Injection
ProDefine Retouch is injected according to the agreed treatment plan, with focus on hydration and skin quality.
Aftercare & follow-up
You receive individual aftercare guidance and information about expected reactions and when to contact the clinic.
What results can you expect?
The purpose of skin booster treatment is improvement in skin quality rather than a dramatic change in facial shape. The degree of improvement and how long it remains visible vary between individuals.
Results are individual
Your starting skin condition, age, treatment area, biological factors and lifestyle can all influence the response and duration.
For that reason, we do not promise the same duration of effect for every patient.
One treatment or a series?
Some patients may be advised to have a single treatment, while others may benefit from a planned course over several visits.
Further treatment or maintenance is determined according to individual response and treatment goals.
Safety and medical assessment before skin booster
Skin booster is an aesthetic injection treatment. In Sweden, aesthetic injection procedures may only be performed by licensed physicians, dentists or nurses.
Before treatment, relevant medical conditions, medication, previous aesthetic procedures, treatment area and other factors that may influence suitability are reviewed.
Before a first aesthetic injection treatment, at least two days’ reflection time applies. You should also receive information about the expected treatment course, realistic outcome, cost, relevant risks and aftercare before making your decision.
You can read more about Swedish requirements for aesthetic injection treatments at the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO) .
Reactions, risks and aftercare
Temporary local reactions can occur after injectable treatments. Before treatment you receive information relevant to the product and treatment area, followed by individual aftercare instructions.
Temporary reactions may include
- tenderness or stinging around injection points
- swelling or small raised areas in the skin
- itching or temporary irritation
- bruising
- temporary changes in sensation or appearance around the treated area
Rarely, hyaluronic-acid injections can block a blood vessel and damage skin or vision. Unusual or increasing pain, pale, mottled or darkening skin needs immediate assessment: contact the treating clinician immediately and seek urgent care if unavailable. Call 112 for sudden vision changes or stroke symptoms; do not wait for a follow-up visit. Appropriate patient selection, anatomical knowledge, injection technique and clear instructions about unusual symptoms are therefore important parts of treatment safety.
Contact the clinic if you experience severe or increasing pain, unusual swelling, marked colour change, worsening redness or any other symptom that concerns you after treatment.
Is skin booster suitable for everyone?
No. Skin booster should only be recommended after individual assessment. Treatment may need to be avoided or postponed because of certain medical conditions, medications, skin reactions, infection or inflammation in the treatment area.
According to the manufacturer’s safety information, ProDefine Retouch should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding or in patients under 18 years of age. Other contraindications are reviewed during consultation.

Skin booster as part of a broader aesthetic plan
Other aesthetic treatments may be relevant for different goals. This does not mean that they should automatically be performed at the same time as skin booster. Treatment type, sequence and appropriate interval must be planned individually.

Frequently asked questions about skin booster
What is a skin booster?
A skin booster is an aesthetic injection treatment using hyaluronic acid primarily to support hydration and skin quality rather than deliberate facial volumisation or contouring.
Is a skin booster the same as dermal filler?
Both may be hyaluronic-acid-based injectable products, but they are used with different goals. Skin boosters primarily focus on hydration and skin quality, while volumising fillers are used for contour, structure or volume.
Which skin booster does Gloss & Floss use?
We use ProDefine Retouch from AQ Skin Solutions, a skin booster based on minimally cross-linked hyaluronic acid and Soft C-Link technology.
What is ProDefine Retouch intended to improve?
According to the manufacturer, ProDefine Retouch is designed for intensive hydration, improved skin firmness and a reduction in the visible appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Individual results vary.
How long do skin booster results last?
Results are temporary and duration varies between individuals according to factors such as starting skin condition, treatment area, biological factors and lifestyle. We therefore do not promise the same duration for every patient.
How many skin booster sessions will I need?
This is determined individually. Some patients may be advised to have one treatment, while others may benefit from several treatments followed by maintenance depending on their goals and response.
Does skin booster treatment hurt?
Skin booster involves a number of small injections and may therefore feel like stinging, pressure or temporary tenderness. Appropriate comfort measures and injection technique can be discussed during consultation.
What downtime can I expect?
Temporary swelling, tenderness, small raised areas, irritation or bruising may occur after injection. Recovery varies between individuals.
Is skin booster suitable for everyone?
No. Suitability must be assessed individually. ProDefine Retouch has contraindications and should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding or in patients under 18. Relevant medical factors are reviewed before treatment.
Do I need a consultation before skin booster?
Yes. Because skin booster is an aesthetic injection treatment, suitability, risks, expectations and treatment planning need to be assessed before treatment.
Can I have skin booster on the same day as my first consultation?
Not for a first aesthetic injection treatment. Swedish rules require at least two days’ reflection time before the first treatment can be carried out.
How much does skin booster cost at Gloss & Floss?
SkinBooster 2.0 ml is currently listed at 5,990 SEK on our standard medical aesthetics price list.
Can skin booster be combined with other treatments?
Other aesthetic treatments can form part of a broader plan, but they should not automatically be performed at the same time. Product instructions, treatment goals, safety and appropriate timing must be considered individually.
